The Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) has published a series of quick-reference guides for educators. The first "Lucky 21" guide was entitled "Avoiding Legal Disputes in Special Education: 21 Training Points for Administrators." The second "Lucky 21" guide was entitled "Section 504: 21 Myths and Realities for School Personnel" and the third "Lucky 21" guide written by Julie Weatherly addresses Discipline of Students with Disabilities. All three of these have been recently revised, updated and renamed "CASE Essentials." For more information and ordering, click here.
CASE and RISE have also partnered to create a "504 Process & Procedures Manual" authored by Julie Weatherly. The Manual is currently in draft format awaiting revision to the 504 educational regulations that was announced by the Office for Civil Rights in May of 2022. According to OCR, proposed regulations for comment are to be issued in May of 2023 and final regulations will then be issued once the regulatory commentary period concludes. Stay Tuned for the new 504 Manual!
