for Alabama's Special Education Coordinators and Assistants
Since 2011, RISE has annually conducted the Alabama Legal Retreat for Special Education Coordinators and their Assistants. The Retreat is always held at a location that is intended to facilitate a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, while allowing for an extensive amount of input from and collaboration between Coordinators. The Retreat is typically held for 1 and 1/2 days on a Thursday and Friday. The first Retreat was held at Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama and the others have been held at Alabama's 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama. The Retreats have been enjoyable learning experiences for everyone.
This Retreat is not intended to be a "conference" or typical "legal presentation." Rather, it is designed to be a working Retreat where Coordinators and their Assistants are able to share information and engage in hands-on problem-solving and strategy development for dealing with difficult legal situations. Because of the nature of this Retreat, registration is limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Retreat tuition includes all Retreat activities and materials prepared by Julie, Leslie and Butch, all meals/snacks, a social evening and one (or two) night's lodging at the Retreat site. Registrants Create the Agenda!
Upon confirmation of registration and payment, Registrants will be contacted by RISE and asked to submit suggestions for Agenda items to be covered at the Retreat. We collect and sort through all suggestions and create our Retreat Agenda based upon the input of registrants and the topics/questions that they suggest.
