Plans are underway for the Ninth Annual RISE & Shine Legal Retreat for Special Ed. Coordinators!
Save the Date: January 16 & 17, 2019
Alabama's 4H Conference Center, Columbiana, Alabama
Description of the Legal Retreat
Since 2012, RISE has been conducting the Alabama Legal Retreats for Special Education Coordinators and their designees. The Retreat is always held at a location that is intended to facilitate a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, while allowing for an extensive amount of input from and collaboration between Coordinators. The Retreat is typically held for one and 1/2 days. The first Retreat was held at Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama and the others have been held at Alabama's 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama. The Retreats have been enjoyable learning experiences for everyone who attended. The Retreat tuition includes all Retreat activities and materials prepared by Julie Weatherly and Leslie Allen, all meals/snacks and one night's lodging at the Retreat site.
This Retreat is not intended to be a "conference" or typical "legal presentation." Rather, it is designed to be a working Retreat where Coordinators and their assistants are able to share information and engage in hands-on problem-solving and strategy development for dealing with difficult legal situations. Because of the nature of this Retreat, registration is limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Registrants Create the Agenda!
Upon confirmation of registration and payment, Registrants will be contacted by RISE and asked to submit suggestions for Agenda items to be covered at the Retreat. We collect and sort through all suggestions and form our Agenda based upon the input of registrants and the topics/questions that they suggest.
