THE TENTH ANNUAL 2021 RISE & SHINE LEGAL RETREAT FOR ALABAMA'S SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATORS AND ASSISTANTS WAS A SUCCESS!
We were disappointed that our Alabama Legal Retreat had to be held virtually on January 14-15, 2021, but we had a great time and it continued to be a very informative opportunity! We have no doubt that we will be back in person next January 2022!
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF LEGAL RETREAT CONCEPT
The RISE & Shine Annual Special Education Legal Retreats are designed for a small group of Special Education Directors/Coordinators and their Assistants and are held at locations that are intended to facilitate a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, while allowing for an extensive amount of input from and collaboration between attendees. The Retreat is typically held for one and 1/2 days.
The first RISE & Shine Retreat was held in Alabama at Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama in January 2012 and the second through the eighth Annual Retreats have been held at Alabama's 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama, where the ninth one will also be held.
The first and second annual Florida RISE & Shine Retreats were held at the FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City, Florida, where we expect the third Retreat will also be held.
The Retreats have been enjoyable learning experiences for everyone who attended. The Retreat tuition includes all Retreat activities and materials prepared by Julie, Leslie and Kevin, all meals/snacks and one or two night's lodging at the Retreat site.
This Retreat is not intended to be a "Conference" or typical " legal presentation." Rather, it is designed to be a working Retreat where Directors and their assistants are able to share information and engage in hands-on problem-solving and strategy development for dealing with difficult special education legal issues and situations. Because of the nature of this Retreat, registration is limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Attendees Create the Agenda!
Upon confirmation of registration and payment, Registrants will be contacted by RISE and asked to submit suggestions for Agenda items to be covered at the Retreat. We collect and sort through all suggestions and send out a preliminary Agenda for Registrants to review and approve prior to the Retreat!
