2019 RISE & SHINE LEGAL RETREATS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION DIRECTORS AND ASSISTANTS IN ALABAMA AND FLORIDA
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
General Description of the RISE & Shine Legal Retreats
The RISE & Shine Special Education Legal Retreats are designed for a small group of Special Education Directors/Coordinators and their Assistants and are held at locations that are intended to facilitate a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, while allowing for an extensive amount of input from and collaboration between attendees. The Retreat is typically held for one and 1/2 days.
The first RISE & Shine Retreat was held in Alabama at Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama in January 2012 and the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth were held at Alabama's 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama, where the eight will also be held.
The first annual Florida RISE & Shine Retreat was held at the FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City, Florida in November 2018 and was a complete success.
The Retreats have been enjoyable learning experiences for everyone who attended. The Retreat tuition includes all Retreat activities and materials prepared by Julie, Leslie and Kevin, all meals/snacks and one or two night's lodging at the Retreat site.
This Retreat is not intended to be a "Conference" or typical " legal presentation." Rather, it is designed to be a working Retreat where Directors and their assistants are able to share information and engage in hands-on problem-solving and strategy development for dealing with difficult special education legal issues and situations. Because of the nature of this Retreat, registration is limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
