Alabama's 4H Conference Center, Columbiana, Alabama

Description of the Legal Retreat

The Legal Retreats are designed for Special Education Coordinators and their designees and are held at locations that are intended to facilitate a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, while allowing for an extensive amount of input from and collaboration between Coordinators.  The Retreat is typically held for one and 1/2 days, beginning on an afternoon and concluding in the afternoon the following day.  The first Retreat was held at Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama in January 2012 and the second, third, fourth and fifth were held at Alabama's 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama.  The Retreats have been enjoyable learning experiences for everyone who attended.  The Retreat tuition includes all Retreat activities and materials prepared by Julie and Leslie, all meals/snacks and one night's lodging at the Retreat site.

This Retreat is not intended to be a "conference" or typical " legal presentation."  Rather (and for those who may remember the "Multi-systems Retreats" we had long ago at Guntersville State Park), it is designed to be a working Retreat where Coordinators and their assistants are able to share information and engage in hands-on problem-solving and strategy development for dealing with difficult legal situations.  Because of the nature of this Retreat, registration is limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.

You Will Create the Agenda!

Upon confirmation of registration and payment, Registrants will be contacted by RISE and asked to submit suggestions for Agenda items to be covered at the Retreat.   We collect and sort through all suggestions and send out a preliminary Agenda for Registrants to review and approve prior to the Retreat!
